This week we are celebrating World Cocktail Day. What better excuse is there to invite the squad over for a cocktail night?

In preparation, we thought we would share with you 3 of the best and easiest cocktail recipes for you to make this weekend – and the best thing is, all the ingredients are available from our Lidl store.

Now, get your cocktail shaker at the ready….

Porn Star Martini

We’ll start with the classics.

For this icon of any cocktail menu worth its salt, all you’ll need is: 2 ripe passion fruits, 60ml vanilla vodka – or plain will do fine, 30ml of passoa, then some lime juice and sugar syrup. If you are all for the ‘gram then get the shot glasses out and serve your porn star martini with a shot of prosecco!

The best thing is, the method is super simple. All you need to do is scoop the seeds from one of the passion fruits into the glass of a cocktail shaker, add the vodka, passoa, lime juice and sugar syrup, before shaking add a handful of ice and serve into 2 martini glasses.

Mojito

Another classic is, of course, the Mojito:this refreshing drink is the perfect cocktail to enjoy on a hot summer’s day, or even better, on World Cocktail Day!

For a jug of Mojitos,perfect for the whole squad (or yourself) all you need is: 6 limes, some granulated sugar, mint, ice, sparkling soda and of course rum!

This super simple and easy cocktail recipe will take you 5 minutes to get from the bottle to the serving glasses.

Chop each lime into six pieces and drop them into a two-litre jug, before adding sugar and lime juice. Then pick the leaves off and drop them into the jug, before adding ice and rum to the jug. Stir with a long-handled spoon to mix all the ingredients together gently and top up with sparkling soda.

If you’re not a fan of mint, why not replace it with strawberries or blueberries for an equally delicious fruity mojito?

Cosmopolitan

Another simple but equally as tasty cocktail to celebrate World Cocktail Day is the Cosmopolitan.

This cocktail is perfect for a party, or pretending you’re Carrie Bradshaw.

All you need is lemon vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and top it off with lime juice and ice! For the garnish you will need orange zest or a lime wedge on the rim of the glass if you’re feeling extra.

Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, and strain into cocktail glasses. For the garnish, you will need a piece of orange zest, and carefully wave it over a lit match or lighter flame – bend the outer edge of the zest towards the flame so the orange oils are released, then drop the zest into your drink for the perfect Cosmo!

If you’re not a big drinker, why not replace the alcohol for a softer option, lemonade, or your favorite flavored tonic? A refreshing mocktail will be just the ticket to celebrate World Cocktail Day with friends..
